The BAHRS creates hair transplant surgical checklist to improve patient safety

Date Published: 10th March 2020

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends the use of a surgical safety checklist for all surgical procedures https://www.who.int/patientsafety/safesurgery/checklist/en/ and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England looks for evidence of use in its inspections of clinics that offer surgery.

The BAHRS endorses this initiative in order to be compliant with National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) 5 Steps to Safer Surgery.

However, the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist does not take into account certain questions that would help to increase the safety of hair transplant surgery procedures so the BAHRS has developed a specific hair transplant surgical safety checklist which was launched at the BAHRS Annual General Meeting on 1st March 2020.

All BAHRS surgeon members are encouraged to use this checklist.
