BAHRS MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION GUIDE

To confirm your eligibility for a particular category see the membership category definitions under the Membership Categories section below. Only professionals practising in the British Isles (including Ireland) are eligible to apply.

Membership of the BAHRS is restricted to surgeons, clinicians and scientists/researchers with an interest in hair loss and hair restoration. Clinic owners, managers, directors and patient advisors are not eligible for membership.

Approval of membership is entirely at the discretion of the BAHRS Executive Committee.

To register your membership application on-line, follow the links from the membership category list below, complete the form (all fields are mandatory), and then select the blue ‘Submit’ button.

Please note: a reference from a BAHRS surgeon member (Full Medical Member or Affiliate Hair Transplant Surgeon Member) must be received prior to the application being considered. The onus is on the applicant to request a reference and get the referee to email it to admin@bahrs.co.uk.

For existing Affiliate Other or Affiliate Hair Transplant Surgeon members wishing to upgrade to Full Medical Member Hair Transplant Surgeon membership, a new reference will be required.

The preferred email address you give will be used for all further communications with you and will be the one required for you to log on to the member section of the website if your membership is approved.

Automated emails are often sent to spam/junk folders so it is imperative that you add admin@bahrs.co.uk to your contacts otherwise you may not receive important emails with instructions on processing your application, membership fee payment etc. If you submit an application but do not receive an acknowledgement email within two working days please check your spam/junk folder. If a message from the BAHRS is there, ensure you immediately change your settings to allow future emails from admin@bahrs.co.uk. If you do not receive the acknowledgement email at all, or do not receive an email with the outcome of your application within two weeks, please contact admin@bahrs.co.uk directly.

BAHRS APPLICATION PROCESS

You will receive an acknowledgement email when your application has been successfully submitted and a further email once your application has been approved by the BAHRS Executive Committee with a link to purchase Annual Membership Fee (£400.00 for Full Medical Members, £250 for Affiliate Hair Transplant Surgeon Members, and £150.00 for all other membership categories).

Once your Annual Membership Fee has been received, you will be sent a further email welcoming you to the BAHRS and attaching the Association’s Constitution, Annual Membership Certificate, a Membership category-specific logo and a receipt for your Annual Membership Fee. This email will also supply you with details of how to log on to the website.

You will then be included in all communications from the Association. Please add office@bahrs.co.uk to your ‘approved’ email list, as you did for admin@bahrs.co.uk.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

FULL MEDICAL MEMBER HAIR TRANSPLANT SURGEON

This fee paying category is for Hair Transplant Surgeons who are fully registered with the General Medical Council and who regularly perform hair restoration surgery procedures in the British Isles. ‘Regularly’ shall be deemed an average of one per week for the previous year (i.e. 46-52 per year).

A Full Medical Hair Transplant Surgeon Member will have signed the BAHRS Code of Conduct for Hair Transplant Surgeons and in so doing so will have agreed to abide by the principles therein.

Fees: Subscription fees for Full Medical Hair Transplant Surgeon Members is £400 per 12-month period which runs from date of payment.

FULL HAIR TRANSPLANT SURGICAL ASSISTANT MEMBER

This fee paying category is for Hair Transplant Surgical Assistants who are employed (ie have an employer-employee relationship as recognised by law, and the employment is full-time or permanent part-time, as opposed to an independent contractor, partner, part-time, or temporary service provider, or any other business relationship) by a Full Medical Hair Transplant Surgeon Member directly or by a Hair Transplant Clinic that also employs a Full Medical Hair Transplant Surgeon Member and who supervises them.

They will therefore be regularly assisting with hair restoration procedures in the British Isles. ‘Regularly’ shall be deemed an average of one per week (ie 46-52 per year).

A Full Hair Transplant Surgical Assistant Member will have signed the BAHRS Code of Conduct for Hair Transplant Surgical Assistants and in doing so will have agreed to abide by the principles therein.

Fees: Subscription fees for Full Hair Transplant Surgical Assistant Members is £150 per 12-month period which runs from date of payment.

AFFILIATE HAIR TRANSPLANT SURGEON MEMBER

This fee paying category is for Hair Transplant Surgeons who are fully registered with the General Medical Council and who perform hair restoration surgery in the British Isles, but not regularly enough to qualify for Full Medical Hair Transplant Surgeon Member status. They will have performed at least an average of one hair transplant surgery a month for the previous year.

An Affiliate Hair Transplant Surgeon member will have signed the BAHRS Code of Conduct for Affiliate Hair Transplant Surgeons and in so doing so will have agreed to abide by the principles therein.

Fees: Subscription fees for Affiliate Hair Transplant Surgeon Members is £250 per 12 month period.

AFFILIATE HAIR TRANSPLANT SURGICAL ASSISTANT MEMBER

This fee paying category is for Affiliate Hair Transplant Surgical Assistants assisting with hair restoration procedures in the British Isles who are not eligible to be a Full Hair Transplant Surgical Assistant member (ie not employed by a Full Medical Hair Transplant Surgeon Member directly, or by a Hair Transplant Clinic that also employs a Full Medical Hair Transplant Surgeon Member who supervises them, with an employer-employee relationship as recognised by law, and the employment is full-time or permanent part-time, as opposed to an independent contractor, partner, part-time, or temporary service provider, or any other business relationship).

A Full Hair Transplant Surgical Assistant member will have signed the BAHRS Code of Conduct for Affiliate Hair Transplant Surgical Assistants and in doing so will have agreed to abide by the principles therein.

Fees: Subscription fees for Affiliate Hair Transplant Surgical Assistant Members £150 per 12 month period. The 12 month period will run from the date of payment.

AFFILIATE TRICHOLOGIST MEMBER

This fee paying category is for Trichologists with an interest in hair loss disorders practising in the Britsh Isles.

An Affiliate Trichologist Member will have a working relationship with a Full Medical Member or Affiliate Member Hair Transplant Surgeon. They will have signed the BAHRS Code of Conduct relevant to their profession and in doing so will have agreed to abide by the principles therein.

Fees: Subscription fees for Affiliate Trichologist Members £150 per 12 month period. The 12 month period will run from the date of payment.

AFFILIATE DERMATOLOGIST MEMBER

This fee paying category is for dermatologists with an interest in hair loss disorders practising in the Britsh Isles.

An Affiliate Dermatologist Member will have signed the BAHRS Code of Conduct relevant to their profession and in doing so will have agreed to abide by the principles therein.

Fees: Subscription fees for Affiliate Dermatologist Members £150 per 12 month period. The 12 month period will run from the date of payment.

AFFILIATE SCIENTIST OR RESEARCHER MEMBER

This fee paying category is for scientists and researchers whose field of interest is hair related and practising in the Britsh Isles.

An Affiliate Scientist/Researcher Member will have signed the BAHRS Code of Conduct for Affiliate Members relevant to their profession and in doing so will have agreed to abide by the principles therein.

Fees: Subscription fees for Affiliate Scientist/Researcher Members £150 per 12 month period. The 12 month period will run from the date of payment.

AFFILIATE SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION PRACTITIONER MEMBER

This fee paying category is for scalp micropigmentation practitioners practising in the Britsh Isles who may want to have a formal affiliation with the BAHRS.

An Affiliate Scalp Micropigmentation Practitioner member will have signed the BAHRS Code of Conduct for Affiliate Members relevant to their profession and in doing so will have agreed to abide by the principles therein. Only applicants with a Level 4 SMP-specific qualification will be considered.

Fees: Subscription fees for Affiliate Member Scalp Micropigmentation Practitioner is £150 per 12 month period. The 12 month period will run from the date of payment.

AFFILIATE MEMBER OTHER

This fee paying category is for individuals practising in the Britsh Isles who have an interest in hair, hair loss disorders, hair restoration and hair transplantation surgery and want to have a formal affiliation with BAHRS, but do not qualify for one of the other membership categories.

An Affiliate Member Other will have signed the BAHRS Code of Conduct relevant to their membership category and in doing so will have agreed to abide by the principles therein.

Fees: Subscription fees for Affiliate Member Other is £150 per 12 month period. The 12 month period will run from the date of payment.

HONORARY MEMBERS

This non-fee paying category reserved for individuals who have rendered distinguished and exceptional service to the practice of hair restoration surgery or any other person who has the unanimous approval by resolution of the Executive Committee.
