POSITION STATEMENTS
There are controversial issues that exist in the Hair Restoration Surgery field. The BAHRS position on some of these can be found below.
In addition, the BAHRS, as an International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery Global Council member, endorses the ISHRS position statements that are found at https://ishrs.org/media/position-statements/
Position Statement:
It is the position of the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery (BAHRS) that both Hair Transplant Surgery (HTS) and Prosthetic Hair Fibre Implantation (PHFI) are types of Hair Restoration Surgery
Position Statement:
It is the position of the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery (BAHRS) that, in the UK, the surgical steps of a Hair Transplant Surgery (HTS) procedure, including the skin incisions for the Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) donor hair harvesting method, should only be performed by a GMC licensed doctor.
Position Statement:
It is the position of the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery (BAHRS) that Hair Transplant Surgery for male and female pattern hair loss should be seen as a treatment for a diagnosable genetically caused and hormonally mediated medical condition, and should not be considered ‘cosmetic surgery’. This position is supported by the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) here and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) here.
